Celebrating the Impact of Danny Sullivan Group’s Social Value Hours in STEM Engagement

We’re thrilled to share the incredible success that Danny Sullivan Group (DSG) has achieved in our Social Value (SV) STEM engagements over the past academic year. Our team’s dedication to fulfilling client requests, surpassing KPI obligations, and engaging in DSG-centric activities has allowed us to make a significant difference in diverse environments. From primary schools to SEND colleges, we have worked across a variety of educational settings, training environments, armed forces, prisons, and youth centres within communities, delivering high-quality guidance and support.

Expanding Reach and Breaking Stereotypes

At the heart of our efforts is the desire to break down stereotypes and challenge the stigmas often associated with the construction industry. We’ve actively contributed to reshaping perceptions by highlighting the 100+ careers available within our sector. Through mock interviews, careers fairs, CV writing workshops, and STEM activity sessions, we’ve provided students, young people, and adults with valuable insights into career pathways, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to pursue careers they may not have considered.

One of the key achievements worth celebrating is the completion of 215 Social Value hours, and reaching 12k+individuals, by our Social Value, Skills & Employment Advisor, Suki Dhillon-Basra, more than doubling the original target. This is a testament to the commitment of our team to exceed expectations and deliver meaningful, impactful experiences.

Engaging Activities to Inspire and Empower

Some of our standout activities include mock interviews and practical STEM engagements. Our mock interviews have been a vital tool in giving students their first positive interview experience. By following the schools’ lead and tailoring our approach to each unique situation, we ensure that students feel comfortable and supported while gaining real-world interview skills. This helps prepare them for future job opportunities, instilling confidence and providing invaluable interview techniques.

We have also been deeply involved in CV writing and interview preparation, assisting students in crafting professional CVs and navigating Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS). These services, promoted through the STEM website, make our expertise easily accessible to schools and organisations seeking support in preparing young people for the world of work.

One of the ways we’ve made a lasting impact is through building long-term relationships with schools and educators. By consistently engaging with students and teachers, DSG has become a trusted partner in their STEM education journeys, positioning our company as a preferred employer at careers events. This relationship-building is key to ensuring the continuity and depth of our engagement, allowing us to make a sustained difference in the lives of young people.

Practical STEM Activities with a Purpose

Our practical STEM activities have also been a highlight of our engagements. Using STEM connectivity kits, we introduce students to interactive, hands-on learning experiences that align with the Skills Builder Universal Framework. These activities are not only fun and educational, but they also focus on building eight essential skills: problem-solving, leadership, creativity, listening, staying positive, teamwork, aiming high, and speaking. These inclusive activities allow individuals to participate at their own pace, while developing skills that are critical for their future success in any career.

A Bright Future Ahead

Looking forward, we are eager to continue building on the success of this year. The DSG team remains committed to supporting STEM education, providing career guidance, and expanding our outreach to even more communities. A heartfelt thank you to all our STEM ambassadors and educators for their tireless efforts in inspiring the next generation.

The future is bright, and together we will continue to make a lasting impact.
