LGBT+ is an abbreviation for ‘Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and other’ and refers to the broad spectrum of terminology people may use to define their sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
In 2015, 1.7% of the population identified as lesbian, gay or bisexual and there have been significant milestones in the last decade such as the legalisation of gay marriage in 2013 and 45 LGBT+ identifying MPs elected in the 2017 UK election.
